Paraphilias & Sexual Offenders Dr. Krueger graduated from Harvard Medical School in1977; he is board
certified in Internal Medicine (1980), Psychiatry (1984), and has received
added qualifications in Forensic Psychiatry (1996) and Addiction Psychiatry
(1997). He currently is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry
in the Department of Psychiatry, Columbia University, College of Physicians
and Surgeons; he is the Medical Director of the Sexual Behavior Clinic,
New York State Psychiatric Institute; and he is an attending psychiatrist
at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and at New York State Psychiatric
Institute. He currently is active in the teaching of Columbia medical
students and psychiatric residents and is on the faculty of the Columbia-Cornell
Fellowship in Psychiatry and the Law.He is a member of the American Academy
of Psychiatry and the Law, the International Academy of Sex Research,
the Society for Behavioral Neuroendocrinology and the Association for
the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.He has published in the areas of biological
psychiatry and paraphilias. Paraphilias & Sexual Offenders Experience SInce 1985, Dr. Krueger has held expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, risk assessment, and risk management of sex offenders and of individuals with paraphilias. He is Medical Director for the Sexual Behavior Clinic at New York State Psychiatric Institute, a clinic which has been a pioneer in this field. He consults for the New York State Office of Mental Health, educating personnel in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of sex offenders and performing diagnostic and risk assessments and formulating treatment plans for high-risk and other sex offenders. Past experience includes 4 years as a consultant to the Sexual Treatment Center in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, a well-known institution in this area, where he evaluated and treated sexual offenders. He had a 1 year contract with the United States Department of Probation, Southern District of New York, for the evaluation and treatment of sexual offenders on their caseload. Services Evaluations may be useful for cases involving the civil commitment of sexual offenders, in certain child custody cases, or in cases wherein individuals have been charged with sexual offenses. These evaluations are generally used for clinical or legal purposes, to assess risk, to plan for risk management and to offer treatment planning. Dr. Krueger has performed numerous comprehensive sexual offender evaluations for judges as well as prosecution and defense attorneys. Evaluations consist of the following:
Hypersexual Disorders Since 1985, Dr. Krueger has assessed and treated individuals with hypersexual disorders, including compulsive computer usage involving acquisition of pornography or cybersex, compulsive masturbation, protracted promiscuity, pornography, and telephone sex dependence. Services Include a thorough clinical assessment, consultation with attorneys if legal
charges are involved, and development and implementation of an appropriate
treatment plan, including group treatment, individual treatment, and
Experience Dr. Krueger has over 12 years of experience in the assessment and treatment of professionals, including physicians, priests, rabbis and other clergy, and attorneys accused of or involved with sexual misconduct. He is a consultant to the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct and to the Board of Registration in Medicine of the State of New Jersey and follows physicians as a treatment and program monitor. He has consulted to Columbia University on student sexual misconduct policies. He has an ongoing program for the treatment of professionals involved with sexual misconduct. He is also Medical Director of the Sexual Behavior Clinic at New York State Psychiatric Institute where he regularly evaluates sex offenders for the New York State Office of Mental Health. Neuropsychiatry & Psychopharmacology Experience Since 1985, Dr. Krueger has worked as a psychopharmacologist and in the evaluation and treatment of indivdiuals with brain injury and/or neuropsychiatric problems. His experience in neuropsychiatry and psychopharmacology includes the following:

Experience Since 1977, Dr. Krueger has held board certification in Addiction Psychiatry and has evaluated and treated individuals with substance abuse and dependence problems. He is a consultant to the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct and to the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. He follows physicians as a treatment and program monitor. Past experience includes the development of an inpatient substance abuse program at Waltham-Weston Hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts.
